The successful game Star Stable Online from Sweden is expanding its music range with the rock band The Miscreants. Together, Star Stable and the four strong female musicians behind The Miscreants want to revolutionize the music and IT industry by pushing strong, female representation.
"This is just the beginning! It is our goal to become the leading platform for creative girls who love adventure, games and music", says Taina Malén, CBDO at Star Stable Entertainment AB.
Today, Star Stable is the fastest-growing horse- and adventure-game in the world with over half a million active players each month. Last year Star Stable has shifted their focus increasingly to music.
"Music is central to our players’ lives. Integrating music into the Star Stable experience gives us the opportunity to foster and consolidate the relationship between the brand Star Stable and our players. Additionally, it allows us to reach a new audience on other channels", says Taina Malén.
Star Stable Entertainment’s new music directive was launched at the beginning of 2019 with the release of an EP produced by Star Stable’s own music department and connected to one of the game’s most popular characters, the Soulrider Lisa Peterson.
Three more releases with new artists are already scheduled for this year. First is the rock band The Miscreants, which will start releasing material in the game during the summer. In August, The Miscreant’s first EP “In It to Win It” will be published and made available on Spotify, Apple Music and other digital streaming platforms.
Behind The Miscreants stands the award-winning band Browsing Collection from Skövde. A band that has successfully established itself in both the Swedish and international music scene after ten years of hard work and touring in, among other countries, South Korea, the Netherlands and England.
"The Miscreants are incredibly cool and talented. They are great role models who show the creativity and potential girls have, which is what they have in common with our players", says Taina Malén.
"When we founded our band more than 10 years ago, we were just between 11 and 15 years old. We really had to work hard to be heard in a traditional male-dominated industry and genre. Now, we want to contribute to the transformation of the music industry and try to be role models for creative young girls", says Moa Lenngren, the guitarist of the Browsing Collection, who today, together with the other band members Mimi Brander (vocals and guitar), Nora Lenngren (bass) and Carro Karlsson (drums), runs a music camp for young girls in collaboration with Sweden Rock Festival. In April 2019, Browsing Collection won the award “Best Youth Initiative” at Framtidens Musikpris 2019 (Future Music Awards 2019), established by the Swedish national association Young Musicians and the Swedish copyright organization Stim.
"We share Star Stable’s values and see this as a huge chance to reach a new audience and show the game’s target group that it is possible to make your dreams come true", says Moa Lenngren.
Star Stable is a global entertainment company that creates games and stories across multiple touchpoints where girls discover adventure, ignite creativity and build friendships. It began with Star Stable Online, the online horse adventure set in the magical island called Jorvik. In Jorvik, girls explore an adventure from horseback, challenge themselves or friends in one of the many races, solve quests and meet new friends. In 2020, we have 18M registrations, 14M game hours for our original game Star Stable Online and 1,4M players active in our games every month. At Star Stable Entertainment, our ambition is to serve new products and offer new interactive experiences with better representation for girls of all ages: a second book trilogy inspired by the game for yet another worldwide launch, music releases on our own music label, new media in the shape of an animated series, an updated horse themed care app, and an adorable multiplayer mobile adventure.
